Hey there! I am Toffa Berg!

Landscape and fine art photographer based in Jæren, Norway

My photographic journey is rooted deeply in the landscapes around me—quiet forests, rugged coastlines, and the intimate details often overlooked in favour of grand vistas. I have a particular focus on creating images that convey solitude and worlds within worlds, inviting the viewer to pause and explore.

My work is a hybrid between analog and digital photography, though my heart and craft lean strongly toward analog. There’s an unmatched depth and texture to film that digital can’t replicate, and I strive to carry that analog aesthetic through every image I produce. I favor Mamiya 645 medium format and SX-series 135 format cameras, known for their precision and softness, which perfectly complement my vision.

Inspiration for my photography comes from a diverse set of sources: the masterful landscapes photography of Ansel Adams and Joe Cornish, the emotional depth of W. Eugene Smith’s mastery of light, and the haunting, moody works of Norwegian National Romantic painters like Theodor Kittelsen and August Cappelen, and the emotional expressionism of Edvard Munch. These influences shape my approach—balancing technical precision with emotional resonance.

I live and work from a small cabin in the woods outside the town of Sandnes (Norway). It’s more than a home base—it’s a quiet, grounding space that allows me to observe nature in its unfiltered, everyday rhythm. The stillness of the forest and the nearness to raw weather and seasonal shifts directly inform my work. It's where I develop ideas, scan and develop film, and immerse myself in post-processing with the same slowness and intention as I do in the field.

Alongside cabin life, I also live part-time on the road in my camper, Knotten. Vanlife gives me the flexibility to chase changing light, discover new locations, and revisit familiar ones from different angles and moods. It’s a way of staying connected to the landscape—not just photographing it, but living within it. Many of my images come from these road-based explorations, where photography happens at the pace of travel, observation, and instinct.

"Photography for me isn’t about collecting icons or following trends. It’s about creating honest, timeless art that resonates on a personal level. If you’re drawn to landscapes with soul, to quiet stories told without words, then my work will speak to you."
